Bezos and Sánchez emerge for wedding reception as protests erupt: Live updates

The happy couple have left their hotel for the weekend’s final event: a reception at the city’s Arsenale.

Sánchez was seen waving at onlookers from the balcony of the Aman Hotel before climbing into a water taxi with Bezos where the newlyweds shared a kiss.

Lady Gaga and Elton John are expected to perform at the former medieval shipyard venue this evening.

Protests in Venice appear to have stepped up a notch on the final day of the couple’s festivities.

Protestors hung their “No Space for Bezos” off the Rialto Bridge Saturday and lit colorful flares as gondolas and water taxis drifted below.

Huge crowds were then seen marching through the streets with banners depicting Bezos and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

The city’s deputy mayor told the BBC the activists as “narcissists” and insisted the wedding was the “high-quality tourism” Venice needs.

Tonight’s party was moved further from the city centre for security reasons.

Sánchez Bezos’s Instagram post with a glimpse of her wedding gown has garnered dozens of comments from fans and followers.

Real Housewife of Beverly Hills Kathy Hilton wrote: “Breathtaking,” with over a dozen white heart emojis.

Real Housewife of New Jersey Dolores Catania commented: “So so beautiful congratulations.”

Model Alessandra Ambrosio commented with five red heart emojis.

Protesters continue to rail against the Bezos wedding in Venice.

There appeared to be a huge “No Space for Bezos” event Saturday.

Sánchez’s wedding dress drew mixed reactions.

The Dolce & Gabbana gown was described by the bride as the most conservative across the chest dress she’s ever worn.

And people certainly took notice.

“Lauren Sanchez wedding dress looks horrible especially the buttons all way down front,” one person wrote.

“Lauren Sanchez turns lingerie into a wedding dress. You knew she would,” another said.

“You’re telling me lauren sanchez married one of the richest men in the world but her wedding dress looks like it was bought from shein,” someone else wrote.

But not all of the reaction was negative.

“Lauren Sánchez becoming Mrs. Bezos in an elegant Venice wedding sounds beautiful! It’s cool that she chose a ‘conservative dress’ that was different from her usual style for such a big day,” someone else noted.

“Lauren Sanchez dress was stunning,” another shared.

A closer look at Sánchez’s wedding dress revealed a safety pin near her underarm.

Looking at the image she posted on her Instagram, a safety pin appears to pop out of the dress just below her underarm on the left-hand side (which is actually her right side).

It’s not clear if there was a last-minute snag that led to the need for the pin.
