Moving to another country can be daunting as there are lots of hurdles to get over. One of the most challenging is the language. And when it comes to your health, it can be even more nerve wracking if your Spanish skills are not up to scratch. If you don’t yet feel confident in your language ability, you may want to see an English-speaking doctor instead.
It’s important to keep in mind that the majority of clinics and hospitals that offer English-speaking services will be private, therefore you will need private medical insurance to access them or be willing to pay out of pocket.
If you only have access to the public health system because you pay social security and no extra for private insurance, then you can’t be guaranteed an English-speaking doctor.

You may be able to request one when you register with your nearest public clinic and are assigned a GP, but they may not have one available. Also, if you need to be referred to any specialists at the larger hospitals, again it’s just luck whether you get one that can speak English or not.
