ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 12. Kazakhstan’s
Astana hosted a regional seminar on effective use of technical
means in customs control, Trend reports.
The event was organized by the Border Management in Central Asia
Program (BOMCA 10).
Customs officials from five Central Asian countries, with
practical experience in using and evaluating customs control
equipment, participated in the seminar.
The seminar aimed to strengthen administrative capacity and
enhance the competencies of staff responsible for planning
equipment supplies, as well as to define technical and functional
requirements from the perspective of end users.
Experts from Latvia presented the participants with the
equipment lifecycle, border post classification, and gap analysis
methodologies. The participants also became familiar with best
practices from EU countries in procurement, technical specification
preparation, and testing procedures. Additionally, practical
sessions on modeling technical requirements were held, and
approaches to user training and ensuring the smooth operation of
equipment were discussed.
